A burglar got away with over $30,000 in cash and jewelry sometime Friday after ransacking a home on the 850 block of West Fifth Street, police said.

The Winona Police Department received a call Friday night just before 10 p.m. from a 63-year-old Winona woman. She told police that sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. that day her home had been invaded and more than $30,000 was missing.

Some of the money was in a lock box, police said, which was broken into. There were other spots in the house containing cash, according to police.

Among the jewelry reported missing were two gold bracelets valued at approximately $3,500, four rings valued at $500 each and one gold pendant with diamonds valued at $600. Also reported missing was a cell phone.

Police said there was no sign of forced entry, but believe the door may have been left ajar or unlocked. The incident is still under investigation, and information can be given to the Winona Police Department by calling 457-6302.
