ADULT SOFTBALL REGISTRATION OPENING SOON
Registration will be opening soon for our Men's, Women's and Co. Rec. Adult Softball programs, so keep an eye open for the details in the next week or so. We will be sending specific information out to all of last year's managers from our leagues. Any last year's managers who do not receive this information in the next few weeks or any new teams interested in the program should call the Park Rec. office. We will then send you the information or you may stop in at our office in City Hall in a few weeks and we will give you the necessary information. (Last year's managers-if you are no longer going to be the manager, please pass all information and materials on to this year's manager. If you have any questions, call the Park Rec. office at 457-8258.
MEN'S BASKETBALL OFFICIAL ROSTERS
You may add or delete to your official roster until January 31, 2005. You will need to do this by sending the person you need to add down to the Park Rec. office to fill out information on the roster. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8-4:30 p.m. Any questions, please call at 457-8258.
ADULT BASKETBALL RULE OF THE WEEK
Substitutions may only be made during dead ball situations; "NOT ON THE FLY" like hockey. Penalty: technical foul, two shots, and ball out of bounds at the division line, opposite the scorer's table.
WOMEN'S ADULT BASKETBALL ROSTERS AND STARTING DATES
Only individuals listed on your official roster will be allowed to participate. Your official rosters should have been turned in by January 20, 2005 to the Recreation office. If you have not done so, please do so immediately. Teams must forfeit their games starting the week of January 26th until the roster is turned in; those games will be recorded as losses. Everything on your roster must be completely filled out even if the person is a substitute. You can add or delete to your official roster until January 31, 2005 by sending the person you need to add down to the Recreation office to fill out the roster. AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARDING COURSE
For students ages 15 & up, class will run from April 12-April 17, 2005, Tuesday & Thursday from 6-10 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday from 8-6 p.m. Cost is $175 resident, $185 non-resident. Register in person at the Park Rec. office with full payment.
SEMI-PRIVATE YOUTH SWIM LESSONS
Give your kids great instruction from Certified Park Recreation instructors in a small class. Sessions begin in October and run through March. Each class runs for 2 weeks on Monday and Wednesdays. Classes are held at the Winona Middle School. Call the Park Recreation Department for more information.
ADULT SWIM LESSONS
Escape the fear of not knowing how to swim with the Park Rec. adult swim lessons. Classes are arranged to meet the swimming ability of those registered. Intermediate & Beginner sessions offered. Call the Park Recreation Department for more information.
PRESCHOOL OPEN GYM
Open to all preschoolers, daycare groups & families. Program runs Tuesday and Thursdays from 9-11 a.m., November 16th through April 21st, 2005.
MEN'S & WOMEN'S ADULT VOLLEYBALL RULE OF THE WEEK
There will be no smoking or drinking inside the buildings or outside on either property. We are guests of the school - - - don't take this privilege for granted. Everyone must be 18 years of age to be in the St. Stan's gymnasium. No exceptions.
The Family Swim program is held at the Winona Middle School Pool. This program runs from January 3 to March 14, 2005 from 7-9 p.m. There is no fee for this program and no pre-registration needed. There will be no Family Swim on February 21st-Presidents Day.
ACTIVITIES CANCELLATION NUMBER-457-8220
For your convenience, the Winona Park Recreation Department has a cancellation number that you can call in case of bad weather, call 457-8220. If you feel a game, practice or special event might be cancelled; you may call this number. Listen carefully and follow the directions given on the recording. If there is no recording or an outdated recording, it means that there are NO CANCELLATIONS at that time. Cancellations will also be made on the radio stations. Please use this service instead of calling our office number.
LODGE AND SHELTER RENTALS
Need a lodge or shelter for your family gathering, picnic, wedding, baby shower, graduation, birthday party, etc. You can chose from Holzinger Lodge, Lake Park Lodge, Valley Oaks Lodge, Jaycee Shelter, Lions Shelter, Kiwanis Shelter, Latsch Shelter, Gilmore Valley Shelter, Windom Park or Rose Garden Gazebo and the Bandshell. We are now taking bookings for the current year and the 2006 season. Reservations are required in person, full payment and a valid driver's license.
LOST AND FOUND ITEMS
If you have lost any items, such as keys, softball gloves, jackets, etc. During our programs or when using our facilities, we may have them in our lost and found box at the Park Rec. office, City Hall. Please stop in to identify the items.
CITY HALL OFFICE HOURS
All City Hall offices on September 7, 2004 begin their fall/winter office hours. These offices will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. We are closed on Saturday and Sundays.
ACTIVE WELLNESS CENTER
Do you want stronger arms for better hugs? Or do you want to age on your own terms, then come to the new Active Wellness Center at the Senior Friendship Center. Memberships available for persons 55 and over. Stop in the Park Recreation Department in City Hall, to purchase your membership or call the Winona Senior Friendship Center at 454-5212 for more information on our Active Wellness Center. As of December 1st, it is time to renew your 2004 membership, stop in the Park Rec. office to get your 2005 membership, and please remember to bring your 2004 membership tag with you.
