Hundreds of bald eagles near Wabasha

If you were waiting for the eagles to come to Wabasha before you came to the National Eagle Center your time is now! Regular counts are taken of the eagles and migratory birds to see how many have come to winter with us. As of Dec. 18, the local count of bald eagles for Wabasha and the surrounding ar eas is 410 birds! Areas included in this count are Wabasha, Reads Landing, Alma, and Buffalo City. Along with the eagles there are also thousands of Common Mergansers, and Common Golden eyes and an assortment ofother waterfowl including Tundra Swans, Trumpeter Swans, Mallards, Buffleheads, Canvasbacks, Green - Winged Teal, Gadwall, Lesser Scaup, Redhead, Ring-Billed Gull and Herring Gull.
