The Eagles Club was burglarized Wednesday night, the latest in a rash of similar burglaries across Minnesota targeting cash at veterans’ clubs and other service organizations.
Police were called to the club at 5:32 a.m., after an employee noticed the back door had been forced open. Police said it appeared as though the ATM machine was targeted, although the culprit or culprits did not get any money out of the machine.
But an office door at the club was forced open, and police said two safes inside were pried open. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
The VFW nearby was burglarized overnight on December 15. An undisclosed amount of cash was also taken from a safe in that incident, and police are investigating to see if the two burglaries are related.
