A woman who was reported in Winona for taking sexually explicit photos of two girls aged 6 and 2 has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Donna Mary Zauner, 45, pleaded guilty in federal court to producing child pornography. Police were alerted in October, 2010, by a Winona man who said he had been living with the woman and noticed explicit photos on an email account on his computer.

Investigators determined the emails were sent to Alec James Tafolla, 52, of Claymont, Del., and he and Zauner were found in a Winona hotel room. Police found more than a dozen more images on Zauner’s cell phone, took the girls into protective custody, and arrested Zauner.

Zauner told police she gave the images to Tafolla in exchange for driving her cross country on several occasions.

Tafolla was sentenced to 16 years in prison for his role.
