On Friday, December 28, at 5:51 p.m. the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a three-vehicle crash with injuries on U.S. Hwy. 10 west of Larch St. in the Town of Unity, Strum, Wis. It was determined at the scene that all three vehicles were attempting to slow down due to the road conditions, when the driver of one vehicle, Megan C. Salava, 18, of Strum, Wis., struck the back end of a vehicle driven by Dylan J. Franson, 18, also of Strum, causing her to lose control and spin out, facing into oncoming traffic. Another vehicle behind Salava, driven by Keegan H. Achtziger, 20, of Beaver Dam, Wis., struck the Salava vehicle in the front passenger side causing extensive damage and injury. Salava was transported by Osseo Ambulance to Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire, Wis., with unknown injuries. Salava was cited for operating with a suspended license along with open intoxicants in a motor vehicle. Keegan Achtziger was cited for no insurance. The accident is under investigation.
