State Representative Gene Pelowski (DFL – Winona) received his committee assignments for the 2017 legislative session to begin January 3, 2017. Rep. Pelowski will be serving as the DFL lead on the Higher Education Finance Committee. In addition, Rep. Pelowski will be on the Ways and Means, and the Rules and Legislative Administration committees.
“These committees represent some of the most fundamental work our state government does, including setting the overall state budget and funding vital statewide services,” said Rep. Pelowski.
Over Rep. Pelowski’s time in the House, he has served as the chair of Higher Education committees where he spearheaded efforts to freeze college tuition and provide greater legislative oversight of MNSCU and the University of Minnesota.
“We need ensure that college is accessible to more students,” remarked Rep. Pelowski. “To do so we must keep tuition in check and continue to reduce the bloated bureaucracy and administrative costs that have driven tuition up. I look forward to continuing this work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle.”
Rep. Pelowski will be entering his 16th term in the Minnesota House and encourages constituents to contact him with any questions or comments they have on legislative issues. He can be reached via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 651-296-8637.
