The monthly meeting of the Winona Area Crime Stoppers Board of Directors will be held on Tuesday, January 3rd at the Family Restaurant.  The meeting begins at 8:00 a.m.  The public is invited to attend.

Cathedral’s Young at Heart will meet on Jan. 5t. staring with 12:10 mass followed by a lunch of meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, creamed peas, cranberry fluff, rolls, and lemon pie. Make reservations by calling Kay at 474-0997 no later than Jan. 3rd. Cost is $4.00; all are welcome.

The Winona Area Coin Club will be meeting on Saturday, January 8, at noon at the Green Mill on Highway 61 in Winona. Upcoming events will be discussed. Purchase of lunch is optional.

Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will hold its regular monthly board meeting on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at 9 a.m. at Winona County USDA Service Center, 400 Wilson Street North, Lewiston.


January 12


The Hiawatha Valley Civil War Round Table and the Winona County Historical Society will be sponsoring a joint meeting on Thursday, January 12, at 7 p.m., at  the Winona County History Center, 160 Johnson Street, Winona. State Representative Gene Pelowski’s presentation will deal with an issue that has attracted a lot of attention recently. He will be discussing “The Civil War paintings in the Minnesota State Capitol  building.” All are invited to learn about the current status of these paintings. Refreshments will be provided.


The Widowed Persons Social Group’s January events include breakfast every Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at Hy-Vee Cafe, 1475 Service Drive. Dinners will be at 5:30 p.m. at the Winona Family Restaurant, 1611 Service Drive.


Al-Anon Family Group meets on Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. in the St. Augustine Room, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 360 Main Street. This group is a 12-step fellowship for families of problem drinkers. Call 452-4445 for more information.

TOPS Minn. #263 Winona New members are welcome. Learn how to lose weight  and keep it off. The group meets on Wednesdays. Weigh-in is between 8-8:50 a.m. and the meeting runs from 9-9:50 a.m. at Callista Court, 1455 West  Broadway.


Every Tuesday and Wednesday at Grace Place, 66 East Second Street, from 6-8 p.m. there are community enrichment meetings. The group discusses topics that create stumbling blocks in people’s lives and how they can overcome them. The group covers anger management, guilt versus shame, triggers, NLP, arrested development, criminalistic backgrounds, abuse, addictions, childhood wounds, self esteem, self confidence, perceptions, and so much more. Caregiver Support Group for Adults Age 55 and Better This group provides an opportunity to meet with other caregivers to exchange helpful tips, give and receive support, as well as learn about new resources. Peer Support Network (PSN) is open seven days per week. The hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4-8 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays from 1-5 p.m. PSN is located at 122 West Second Street in Winona.


The Ribbon Warriors cancer support group  meets at Callista Court, 1455 West Broadway, the every third Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. This is a group of women who celebrate that they have had cancer and are beating it. Military Order of the Purple Heart meets the first Wednesday of the month at the Winona VFW Post, 208 East Third Street, Winona, at 7 p.m. Those who are or know a combat wounded veteran may join. Membership is free and the group will keep you informed and help you navigate the Veterans Administration.


Al-Anon and AA meets on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively at Faith Lutheran Church, 1717 Service Drive, Winona.


The Winona Area Bariatric Support Group meets the second Thursday each month at 5:30 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1717 Service Drive, Winona.


Dual Recovery Anonymous an open support group for adults with mental illness and substance abuse issues meets every Saturday, from 1-2 p.m. at Peer Support Network, 122 West Second Street, Winona.


Winona International Dancers meets every Monday from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Valencia Center, 1164 West 10th Street (entrance off Vila Street). This is a fun group of adults of all ages who gather weekly to share their love of ethnic dancing. NAMI Connection: a mental illness support group meets every Monday evening. This is a self-help group for people recovering from mental illness and a place to find acceptance, support and friendship. Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Related Dementia’s Support Group (This group is open to anyone who knows or is a caregiver for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias).
