Tundra Swan Field Trip
Saturday, November 4, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.


Each November, thousands of migrating tundra swans stop at the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge on their way to Chesapeake Bay. Join a naturalist for a short presentation after which attendees will caravan through the Whitewater Wildlife Management Area to Weaver Bottoms on the Mississippi River to observe tundra swans. Binoculars, spotting scopes and handouts will be available. Bring your own transportation.
 
We Are Water Minnesota Exhibit
Saturday, November 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.     


We are Water Minnesota is a local piece of the Smithsonian’s Think Water initiative to raise awareness of water as a critical resource for life through exhibitions, educational resources and public programs. The exhibit will be on display at Whitewater State Park through December. Docents will be available to guide visitors through the interactive exhibits.

Whitewater’s German POW Camp
Saturday, November 11, from 6-7 p.m.     

Did you know that Whitewater State Park was once home to German prisoners of war? Come learn about one of the lesser known parts of Minnesota’s history. What did they do here? Where did they go? What was life like being a prisoner? Did they cause mischief? Come find out!
 
Beavers in Winter
Friday, November 24, from 10-11:30 a.m.     


Feeling full after Thanksgiving? Join in on Free Park Friday for a hike to look for signs of beavers. The group will start at the visitor center with a short presentation to learn how beavers prepare for the long winter.

Saturday, November 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
