Ashley for the Arts recognizes individuals who go above and beyond to help make their community a better place by presenting a Humanitarian Award each year to all participating schools.
This year’s recipient from Cotter is a longtime advocate for the academics, athletics and arts — John Broadwater. He’s worked with the band boosters and the athletic boosters as a parent representative when his children were at Cotter. You will continue to see him at many concerts, games and events. His support and commitment to Cotter Schools and the arts is unmatched.
He and his wife Joan, along with his their children and five grandchildren, are members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona. John is an advocate for students and has been instrumental in the annual process of awarding each Cotter senior with a college scholarship from the Hiawatha Education Foundation.
He has worked at Cotter since 2000 and is currently the director of operations at Cotter Schools. At the end of this school year, he will retire from Cotter Schools. His professionalism, commitment, and friendship is deeply appreciated.
