Days of celebration, demos, free trees and more set for April 19, 21, and 27
Bring the family and join the celebration! Don’t miss Winona State University’s Sixth Annual Arbor Day celebrating “That Tree” project by Mark Hirsch. Hirsch created an inspiring story in his book photo documenting a year in the life of a lonely bur oak tree. Hirsch will speak at the kick-off event on Thursday, April 19, from 6-9:30 p.m. at Kryzsko Commons, East Hall. The event will also include a free tree give-away, original poetry, book signing, and WSU’s Tree-Campus USA recognition. Approximate speaker presentation time is at 7:15 p.m.
The celebration continues on Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at East End Recreation Center, with tree planting, a free tree give-away, food and craft vendors, original poetry, advice on gardening and tree selection, demonstrations, and activities for children and adults alike.
The celebration concludes on Friday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the WSU main campus gazebo for the free tree give-away and tree plantings and activities involving elementary and high school students.
