The Lanesboro Barn Dance will present another chance to kick up your heels on Friday, June 22, at the DreamAcres Farm, 17289 County Road 8, Wykoff, Minn. The starting time is 7:30 p.m. and admission is $8 at the door; the family rate for up to four is $20. Come early for DreamAcres’ famous wood-fired pizza starting at 5 p.m.
This dance marks the beginning of the 24th season of the Lanesboro Barn Dance, which has always taken place at the Sons of Bnorway hall in Lanesboro. This year, due to ongoing renovations to the Sons of Norway, organizers have located to this scenic farm near Wykoff.
No dance experience is necessary; there is no dress code, and you need not come with a partner. Just ask someone to dance! All organized dances are taught. This is like the old-fashioned barn dances that were once the mainstay of entertainment in this part of the country. Just come prepared to have a good time. Pop Wagner, noted performer and square dance caller from St. Paul, will be teaching and calling square dances and big circles.
Betsy Neil from Winona on fiddle will join organizer Bob Bovee who will be playing guitar and harmonica to crank out dance tunes from the South and Midwest.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
