Harvest House will meet for its annual picnic on June 20, 2018, in the basement of the Basilica St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Father Paul Breza will have mass at 1 p.m. The business meeting will follow mass. Please bring a food item for a needy family. Bingo will be played, so bring an unwrapped gift to join. June 25

There will be a meeting for the Winona County Primary Prevention Project Steering Committee on Monday, June 25, from noon to 1 p.m. at Winona County Government Center, second floor, Winona County Board Room, 177 Main Street, Winona.
Mark Dungy will be the guest speaker presenting Netsmartz, a project that helps teach parents how to support their children in effective ways, check their social media, and provides information on cyber bullying. Everyone is welcome to attend these steering committee meetings. All ideas from interested community members are welcomed and appreciated.
Feel free to bring your own lunch if you wish.

June 26

The Sons of Norway, Nor-Win lodge, June meeting will feature Roxy Kohner, who has volunteered on the Winona Newspaper Project in archives at the Winona County History Center using a database through the Winona State University library. She will demonstrate how to look up local history from “The Winona Argus” (1855-57), “Winona Daily Republican” (1860-1901), “Winona Republican Herald” (1905-1954), and “Winona Daily News” (1954-76). She found an article from May 4, 1970, describing the meeting of 30 people the previous week (April 27) to prepare the organization of a Sons of Norway lodge in Winona. Another article dated October 17, 1970, described the new lodge receiving its charter with 41 members.
The presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 26, at 7:00 p.m. in Grace Hall of Central Lutheran Church, Wabasha and Huff streets, Winona, followed by light refreshments.
The Sons of Norway, Nor-Win lodge, invite the general public to attend this interesting program. Scandinavian ancestry is not required.

The Minnesota City Community Readers will meet on Thursday, June 28, at 6:30 p.m. at city hall, 149 Mill Street, Minnesota City. The book being discussed is “That Old Ace in the Hole” by Annie Proulx. All readers are invited whether or not they have read the book. There will not be a meeting in July; the next meeting is on August 23, during which the summer book selection “The Master Butchers Singing Club” by Louise Erdrich will be discussed.

The next Theology Uncorked is all about Mary, Mother of Jesus. Fr. Elias Mills, Franciscan of the Immaculate from La Crosse’s Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, will be with for his talk, “Mariology and Marian Devotion.” Father will be clarifying the five Marian dogmas and explaining why Pope Paul VI said, “if we’re going to be Christian, we must be Marian.” He will also elaborate about why Marian devotion is so necessary.

Hope for Hurting Parents is for parents of children who struggle with chemical addiction. Here you can find encouragement, strength and hope through a Christ-centered fellowship. Hiawatha Valley Education District Board of Directors meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month through November at 7:30 p.m., with exception being in October, when the meeting will be on Monday, October 22.
