Welcoming Week is an annual celebration of the contributions of immigrants and refugees and the role communities play to foster greater welcome for everyone.

City Council meeting
September 11, 6 p.m., St. Charles City Hall, 830 Whitewater Avenue
Mayor Schaber will give a proclamation declaring September 14-23, 2018, as Welcoming Week.

‘8 Borders, 8 Days’ film screening
September 15, 5 p.m., Somsen Auditorium, 175 West Mark Street, Winona
This film depicts the story of a fiercely determined mother willing to risk her children’s lives for a better future. The movie is to be followed by a panel presentation co-hosted by Winona State University Inclusion & Diversity Office.

Citizenship Day celebration and Welcoming Table gathering
September 17, 12 p.m., Central Lutheran Church, 259 West Wabasha Street, Winona
Join Project FINE for its monthly Welcoming Table meal as Citizenship and Constitution Day is celebrated. Recognize those who have become naturalized citizens!

Come join in for this community celebration! There will be remarks from representatives of the city of Winona and Project FINE, food, entertainment, and fun activities for all ages.

We Are Winona: Understanding our Past, Present and Future
September 19, 2 p.m., Winona County History Center, 160 Johnson Street
This is an educational session taught by Mark Peterson, focusing on Winona’s history and cultural groups who settled in the area in the 1800s. Online registration is required at http://bit.ly/WeAreWinona.

‘Hearing the Voices: Digital Edition’ film screening

September 19, 6 p.m., Winona Public Library, 151 West Fifth Street
A panel presentation and screening of several video stories from refugees and immigrants.
