The Winona Friendship Center Activity Council, Inc., is proud to announce it has been chosen as a recipient of a Mardag Foundation grant in the amount of $100,000 over three years.
Established in 1969, the Mardag Foundation is the legacy of Agnes Ober. The foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations that enhance quality of life, inspire learning, revitalize communities and build capacity for the arts across the state of Minnesota. Agnes’ passion lives on through the work of her descendants who serve on the foundation’s board.
The Friendship Center will use the grant dollars to establish a masters-in-aging television production by educating older adults in digital media production, connecting older adults with the wider community by drawing upon older adult skills and wisdom, and broadcasting the final product on local television. It will also create a digital archive for the older adults, students, and wider community — HBC and mass communication students from Winona State University will design four educational sessions for the participants to complete.
For more information on the project please call Malia Fox, director, or Laura Hoberg, program coordinator, at 454-5212.
