On Wednesday, October 17, at its regularly scheduled meeting, the Lewiston Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC) will host the candidates for mayor for the city of Lewiston.
“Continuing its tradition of election year forums, the chamber is offering the Lewiston area business community the opportunity to query candidates in a more personal setting,” said Craig Porter, past president of the LACC. The meeting will be held at the Recreation Cafe in Lewiston, 20 Main Street. Networking starts at 11:30 a.m. with the meeting beginning at noon. Porter continued, “Appearing before the chamber will be Mayor Beth Carlson (incumbent) and councilman Larry Rupprecht. Lewiston has seen increasing activity regarding efforts in public-works projects, housing development, and economic development. lt will be interesting to hear the two candidates’ take on what has taken place so far, where they see Lewiston going in the future, and what it will take to get there.”
The LACC invites all Lewiston business people interested in city issues and development to come and hear what the candidates have to say.
The Lewiston Area Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit business and community enhancement group representing businesses throughout the Lewiston/Altura/Utica area. Through a monthly membership meeting, the LACC furthers its mission of promoting growth, goodwill, and the general welfare of the area. The LACC provides business enhancement programs and supports local area activities like the annual Fools Five Road Race and the annual Lewiston Heartland Days Celebration. Member participation in the LACC is by a very nominal annual dues arrangement that facilitates events and programing and an annual scholarship program at Lewiston Altura High School.
