Ortiz named NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week

Winona State University’s Paul Ortiz was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of October 28 through November 3, 2018.

Ortiz, a junior transfer, produced his best game in a Warrior uniform to date in Winona State’s 38-26 win over Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday, October 27. The Chula Vista, Calif., native went 4-for-4 in field goal attempts and added two PATs.

Ortiz accounted for nine of the Warriors’ 16 first-half points, connecting on field goals from 49, 50 and 32 yards. The 50-yarder was a career long. He also added a 38-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

The Warriors will conclude the regular season this Saturday, November 10, against Concordia University, St. Paul, at Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
