Kathleen Peterson is a local novelist and playwright. Her Irish-centric novel “Girl on the Leeside” was written under her Irish-American family name, Kathleen Anne Kenney. It was published in hardcover by Knopf/Doubleday in 2017 and the paperback version came out earlier this year. Peterson has had two one-act plays and one full-length commissioned play produced by Theatre du Mississippi. She received a SEMAC grant in 2013 for a staged reading of her Dickens-inspired play, “The Ghost of an Idea.”
Currently Peterson enjoys teaching a writing workshop at the Winona Friendship Center, and is working on a historical novel set in the Prohibition era as well as a new play.
