Join Merrick State Park for its fourth annual Winterfest on Saturday, February 16. Fun activities are planned throughout the night. Meet at the Nature Center near the playground and try snowshoeing or hiking on a trail lit by hundreds of luminaries. Professor Jennifer Anderson from Winona State University (WSU) and WSU geoscience students will have telescopes for viewing the night sky. So bring your binoculars, warm up by the bonfire, enjoy hot chocolate, have a hot dog, or make a s’more. Some snowshoes will be available for visitors to borrow.
This program will be held as a hike if there is not enough snow for snowshoeing. The event will run from 5:30-8 p.m. Please dress appropriately for the weather. In the event of below-zero temperatures or bad weather, this program will be cancelled. Park stickers are required and will be for sale at the contact station. Please, no pets.
