Fools 5 Road Race benefits cancer research at Gundersen


The 41st annual Fools Five Road Race is on Sunday, April 7, in Lewiston. The event includes a one-mile race and 8k race, both open to runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes of all ages. Register at; day-of registration is from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lewiston-Altura High School, 100 County Road 25. Races begin at 1 p.m.

The entry fee is $10 for the 8k race and $5 for the one-mile race. Those raising $20 or more in pledges will receive a free race T-shirt. Free snacks and refreshments will be provided. After the race, there’s a social and awards presentation at the Lewiston-Altura High School.

The Fools Five Road Race has raised and donated more than $2 million to area cancer research programs, including more than $348,000 to Gundersen Medical Foundation’s cancer research program and more than $150,000 for the local cancer support group.

In conjunction with the Fools Five Road Race, there will be live and silent auctions on Friday evening, April 5, at the Lewiston Community Center. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.
