A Winona man was arrested after a false fire alarm brought police to a property on the West End of Winona early on Tuesday morning, according to the Winona Police Department.
Police arrested Steven Edward Miller, 32, of Winona, and referred him to the county attorney for potential charges of first-degree damage to property, obstructing the legal process, indecent exposure, false activation of a fire alarm, fourth-degree assault, and fifth-degree assault.
A little after 4 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, police received a report of a fire alarm at an apartment complex on the 100 block of West Seventh Street.
When officers arrived, fire extinguisher residue was wafting through the air and on the carpet. A woman reportedly ran down the stairs and reported that a naked man, reportedly identified as Miller, was in her apartment. Police located Miller upstairs, who reportedly appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. He was naked, and covered in what appeared to be soap lather. During the arrest, Miller allegedly resisted and an officer suffered from a bloody nose during the struggle.
The apartment door was reportedly unlocked.
