23-year-old charged with theft, drug offenses

A 23-year-old man faces multiple felony charges following an alleged burglary on Wednesday, May 15, according to the Winona Police Department
Anthony Xavier Glubka, 23, of Winona, was charged in Winona County District Court with third-degree burglary, fifth-degree felony possession of alprazolam, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of hypodermic needles following an alleged burglary of a Winona business and subsequent search.

According to the police, at 7:51 a.m., an employee at the Washington Crossing Leasing Office on the 150 block of West Broadway reported that at around 4 a.m. a male in his early 20s was caught on surveillance footage entering the business through a window.
The man allegedly took a Samsung tablet, an HP laptop, a gold necklace, and a Sentry lockbox from the building.

At 12:13 a.m., officers reportedly observed a man that fit the description, reportedly identified at Glubka, at the downtown McDonalds with another man, and he was subsequently stopped and asked about the burglary. Glubka reportedly denied any involvement, but the person with Glubka stated that he had a tablet in his backpack that Glubka gave him to hold on to, and stated that Glubka had showed him a gold necklace.

Glubka then reportedly admitted to burglary, and said he had the necklace.

While being questioned, a small baggie reportedly fell to the ground from his pocket containing five green pills of alprazolam. In a search of Glubka’s person, officers reportedly also found a small pipe used for smoking methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana. In the squad car, Glubka allegedly dropped a hypodermic needle, and another one was dropped at the jail.
