Do you love to sing old-time gospel songs and hymns? Come check out the Because He Lives Gospel Chorale at its open house on Sunday, June 23, from 2-4 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church on Huff Street in Winona. There will be a meet-and-greet time with refreshments from 2-2:30 p.m. and then, be ready to sing! The group will be singing and sharing information with attendees until 4 p.m. The group is seeking male and female singers in Winona and the surrounding area to join its music ministry. It is a newly formed SATB gospel choir in the process of building membership and welcomes singers of all ages and abilities. Because He Lives currently meets weekly at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays in Grace Hall at Central Lutheran.
The Sons of Norway, Nor-Win lodge June meeting will feature “A Trip Around Scandinavia” by Dave Schultz. The presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 25, at 7 p.m. in Grace Hall of Central Lutheran Church located at Wabasha and Huff streets in Winona, followed by light refreshments.
The Sons of Norway, Nor-Win lodge invites the general public to attend this interesting program. Scandinavian ancestry is not required.
There will be a meeting of the Heritage Preservation Commission’s Certificate of Appropriateness Committee at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, at Winona city hall to consider the certificate of appropriateness application for exterior alterations at Jefferson Elementary School. This meeting is open to the public.
The Minnesota City Community Readers will meet on Thursday, June 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the city hall at 149 Mill Street in Minnesota City. The book being discussed is “Packinghouse Daughter” by Cheri Register. All readers are invited whether or not you have actually read the book. There will be no meeting in July. The summer book will be “Cloudsplitter” by Russell Banks and that book will be discussed on August 22.
The Rollingstone Luxembourg Museum is open on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
The Goodview Farmers Market will be at the Elk’s Lodge parking lot, 4540 Service Drive, on Thursdays from now through October from 3-6:30.
