If you're a Minnesota corn farmer, you belong in downtown Minneapolis on January 13 and 14, when fellow corn growers from around the state will come together for MN Ag EXPO, the annual Minnesota celebration of all things corn. The event, held at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis, is sponsored by the Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA).
Whether you're a seasoned corn producer or just starting your operation; a long-standing member of the MCGA or not yet a member, MN Ag EXPO offers something for you. The events kick-off Tuesday, January 13 with a trade show and the association's annual meeting and resolutions session. Both days of the event offer breakout sessions that will focus on new corn research, a legislative update, supporting animal agriculture, the workings of our judicial system, new ethanol co-products and a gourmet cooking demonstration.
Senator Norm Coleman will speak at lunch on Tuesday, and Senator Dayton has been invited to give remarks at that time as well. Tuesday evening, MPCA Commissioner Sheryl Corrigan will address EXPO banquet-goers, and on Wednesday, John Block, Executive Vice President of the Food Marketing Institute, West Point Graduate, and former Secretary of the USDA, will provide the keynote address at the Corn Awards Luncheon.
"We have a strong line-up of sessions and speakers this year that will address the major concerns of Minnesota corn producers," said Bill Gluth of Morgan, who serves with Tim Dolan of Gaylord as co-chair of the EXPO committee. "EXPO is also a great time to meet up with old friends and do some networking with new acquaintances as well."
All MN Ag EXPO events are free to Minnesota corn producers. For more information, or to register for the event, visit the Minnesota Corn Growers Association Web site at www.mncorn.org or call 952-233-0333.
