Faith Lutheran welcomes new pastor

Faith Lutheran Church of Winona is pleased to announce the arrival of their new pastor, the Reverend Katherine Chatelaine-Samsen. Pastor Katie began her duties on September 8.

Rev. Chatelaine-Samsen grew up in Owatonna, Minn. She received a Bachelor of Arts in political science and religion from St. Olaf College and a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. After then spending a year at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, she became a rostered minister in the ELCA.

For the past three years, Pastor Katie has been pastor for mission and outreach at both First Trinity Lutheran Church and St. Matthew Lutheran Church, two ELCA congregations in Washington, D.C.

Rev. Chatelaine-Samsen describes herself as “a collaborative leader who partners with people to come up with a shared vision and ways to live into it.” Her ministry interests include community outreach/engagement, worship leadership and preaching, stewardship, and creation care. 

Pastor Katie is married to the Rev. Chris Chatelaine-Samsen, a pastor in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Together, they are the parents of Junia, age 11 months. They are excited to join the Winona community.

Faith Lutheran was previously served by Pastor Mark Dumke who retired in 2019. 

Faith Lutheran, located at 1717 West Service Drive, is holding outdoor services in the church’s spacious back yard. All are welcome. Due to COVID- 19, the church asks for preregistration for services. Registration, along with online services, is available at www.flcwinona.org.
