The discount grocer ALDI is moving in to the former home of the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Winona.
After an earlier announcement that ALDI plans to open a store in Winona, ALDI representatives confirmed the store’s location: 1443 Service Drive. The site is part of a strip mall that also houses Dollar Tree and was formerly home to a Salvation Army Thrift Store and a NAPA Auto Parts shop.
Crews are working on the site currently, and an ALDI official said the company hopes to open the store this fall.
ALDI brands itself as offering a “faster, easier, and smarter way to save money on high-quality groceries.” Why did the company pick Winona? “We are always exploring opportunities in multiple markets across the country, and we carefully consider several factors when selecting locations for a new ALDI store. Bottom line, we look for convenient locations for our customer that can support a high traffic volume daily,” ALDI Faribault Division Vice President Matt Lilla stated.
