Clay Wegman was recognized as the Kiwanis Sunrisers of Winona 4-H Youth Representative for the month of January. Clay is the son of David and Paula Wegman. He is a member of the Saratoga Challengers 4-H Club and a senior at Lewiston Altura High School.
Wegman is currently serving as the Saratoga Challengers 4-H Club president and has been vice-president and secretary in previous years. In 4-H, Wegman has exhibited projects at the county and state fair. At the 2017 Minnesota State Fair, Wegman and his team participated in the Minnesota Meats Cooking competition and won two awards. He has also made various safety kits that he has exhibited at the fair in previous years and even had to use one of them after crashing his bicycle! Wegman has exhibited livestock throughout his years in 4-H and said, “I have learned to be patient, kind and calm to every animal, no matter their size, and I found that it made my personality more gentle.” When asked what advantages or opportunities 4-H has given him Wegman said, “4-H has given me the opportunity to make friends, work with animals and become a leader in my community. Now, because of 4-H I can take my new skills into the real world.”
