A Mondovi, Wis., man missing for over a month was found dead in Eau Claire, Wis., last Thursday, according to the Eau Claire Police Department.
At 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, Toby A. Cleasby, 53, was found inside a residence on the 2600 block of Seymour Road in Eau Claire by investigators from the Buffalo and Eau Claire county sheriff’s offices.
According to the report, Cleasby was transported to the University of Wisconsin Hospitals in Madison, Wis., for an autopsy. He reportedly did not suffer any traumatic injuries, and a full toxicology examination is being conducted to confirm the cause of death.
On November 5, Cleasby was reported as a missing person to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office. His vehicle was later located near the intersection of Hotchkiss Avenue and North Shore Drive in Eau Claire County. The investigation reportedly included numerous witness interviews and examination of video surveillance footage, telephone records and financial records, which led investigators to find Cleasby.
According to the Eau Claire Police, the matter does not pose a threat to the safety of the community, but community members with information on Cleasby’s whereabouts for the past month are urged to contact the Eau Claire Police Department at 715-839-4972.
