Arvilla A. Albrecht, 81, of Sauer Memorial Home, died Tuesday, December 25, 2007, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, LaCrosse, Wis.
Arvilla was born May 16, 1926, in Winona, to John and Cora (Gile) Papenfuss. She married Herbert P. Albrecht on June 20, 1945, in Nodine, Minn.
She farmed with her husband in New Hartford Township until 1963 when they moved to Winona. She worked at the Winona Knitting Mills for 27 years, retiring in 1990.
Arvilla is a member of St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
She loved gardening, music, word find and jigsaw puzzles. Her family was the center of her life.
She is survived by two sons, Tom (Jean) Albrecht of Winona, and John (Karen) Albrecht of LaMoille, Minn.; four daughters, Sharon (Lloyd) Salisbury, Charlotte (Steve) Kwosek, Shirley Frey and Cheryl (Tom) Hodge, all of Winona; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
Arvilla was preceded in death by her husband, Herb, on January 3, 2002; two sons-in-law, Richard Frey and Dan Stueve; a son, Herbert John Albrecht; grandchildren, Deanna Salisbury, Dean Salisbury, and Stacy Smith; and a great-grandchild, Taylor Swanson. Funeral services were Friday, December 28, at St. Martin's Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Richard Moore officiating. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, Nodine, Minn.
Honorary casketbearers were Jerry Zenk, Brian Albrecht, Stan Albrecht, Dean Albrecht, Doug Albrecht, Kevin Stueve, Tony Albrecht, D.J. Rico, Dave Peterson, Gary Peterson, Marty Wolter, Mike Terry and Bart Whipple.
