Margaret F. (Zurn) Grable, age 82, formerly of Cochrane, died Thursday, December 21, at Bethany Riverside Nursing Facility where she had been a resident for the past two years. She was born on December 1, 1924, in Danbury, IA, a daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Meier) Zurn.
On November 13, 1945, Margaret was united in marriage to Rex G. Grable in Mapleton, IA. Rex preceded her in death on August 22, 1999.
Margaret was a 1942 graduate of Mapleton High School in Mapleton, IA. During her lifetime, Margaret worked at several different employers, such as Rudy's Red Owl in Cochrane and a Buffalo County bailiff. She also spent time on the Buffalo City Election Board. She will be remembered for her love of golf, especially with her husband Rex.
Surviving Margaret are her children, John (Elizabeth) Grable, of Winona, Thomas (Jane) Grable, of Buffalo City, Jerilyn (Richard) Baures, of Buffalo City, Jean (Rick) Beseler, of Cochrane; four grandchildren, Andrea (Stephen) Johnston, of Fond du Lac, Adam (Dawn) Grable, of Winona, Nathan and Mickenzie Baures, of Buffalo City; three great-grandchildren, Bianca Baures, Abraham Grable and Ian Johnston; sisters, Louise Gaswint, of Jefferson, SD, Leona Randall, of Ferndale, WA; brothers-in-law, Al Claus, Sedrowoolee, WA, George (Darlene) Grable, of San Diego, CA; sisters-in-law, Bernice Shidler, of National City, CA, Evelyn Grable, of Roseburg, OR; also by many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents and husband of 56 years, Rex, four sisters and two brothers preceded Margaret in death.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 27 at 6:30 PM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Alma. Father Rick Roberts will celebrate. Friends may call on Wednesday, December 27, from 4:30 PM until the hour of Mass at the church. The Talbot Family Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
