Ruth M. Fischer, 94, of Winona, died Monday, December 8, 2008, at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare, Winona. Ruth was born in Winona on May 14, 1914, the daughter of Theodore and Helen (Ristow) Pahnke.
She was united in marriage to Carl J. Fischer on Sept. 25, 1935, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Winona. He preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 2002. She is a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and the St. Elizabeth’s Society of the Catholic Aid Association.
In her early years Ruth worked in her father’s grocery store, the “Jefferson Grocery”. She is better known as a devoted wife and mother. Ruth enjoyed dancing at the Oak’s Supper Club in Minnesota City and also doing sing-alongs.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Ann (Patrick) Krovontka, Castle Rock, CO, and Patricia (Deverett) Olson, Roseville, MN. Six grandchildren, Julie, John and Joseph Jereczek, Melinda Krovontka, Jason and Jessica Olson and four-great grandchildren. Ruth is also survived by a son-in-law, Michael Jereczek, Brooklyn Center, MN.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; parents; daughter, Joanne Jereczek; a granddaughter and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Ruth’s life will be on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 11:00A.M. the Chapel of Our Lady at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare, Rev. Robert Stamschror officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Winona. Friends may call on Saturday, from 10-11AM at Saint Anne.
Casket bearers will be Chuck Fischer, Jason Olson, Jim and Harry Thiewes, Mike Jereczek and Mike Paffrath.
