Elaine F. Luksa, Winona, died December 22, 2009, at Lake Winona Manor following a courageous battle with ALS.
She was born December 2, 1936, to Frank and Eleanor (Kouba) Jereczek. She married LeRoy “Butch” Luksa on May 21, 1966, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.
She lived and worked in Winona all her life. She was employed at Fiberite for 30 years and at McDonald’s for 11 years.
Her passions were volunteering and traveling. She volunteered at Winona Health and the Winona County Historical Society. Elaine traveled to all 48 contiguous states and Canada by bus with her husband and has since traveled to Costa Rica, U.S. Virgin Islands, Italy, Switzerland, Central America, China, Tibet, and Hong Kong with friends.
She is survived by her brother, Michael J. Jereczek, of Winona; sisters-in-law, Sandra (Stu) Loken, of Onalaska, Wis., and Janice Howe of Love’s Park, Ill.; brother-in-law, Wayne Luksa, of Louisville, Ky.; nephews, Tony and Matt Jereczek of Winona; and dear friends, Wayne and Margaret Kronebusch of Rollingstone, Minn., John and Linette Allison of New Brighton, Minn., and Cary and Sue Kronebusch of Winona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, LeRoy, sister-in-law, Joan Jereczek, and brother-in-law, Les Howe.
Elaine has donated her body to science at Mayo in Rochester.
