DuBois, Nancy Amanda

(12/18/2011)

Nancy Amanda DuBois, 61, of Fridley, MN, left us for heaven on December 8th, 2011. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.

Born in Winona, MN, on August 26, 1950, Nancy attended Winona Senior High School. She later moved to Rochester and finally settled in Fridley for the past 14 years.

Nancy got married in April of 1968 and became mother to four daughters. She attended beauty school in Winona and also received her nursing assistant certification to work at Winona Community Memorial Hospital and Home Health Care. She owned and operated Chip’s Trading Post, then managed a video store in the same Winona location.

Nancy was preceded in death by her brothers, Lawrence and Raymond DuBois Jr., and her father, Raymond DuBois Sr. She is survived by her mother, Delores DuBois, her brothers, Steve and Carl DuBois, her daughters, Tamara, Jenna, Cassandra and Melanie Czapiewski and her grandson, Haidon Neumann.

Nancy was an extremely talented person. She was an avid crafter, an incredible cook and baker. Her passions included sewing, knitting, ceramics, quilting, cake decorating and embroidering. Her wonderful scarves, afghans and pajama pants will continue to keep her family and friends warm throughout the winter. Her lovely kitchen towels will hang in many kitchens to keep her memory alive. She also enjoyed hosting foreign exchange students in her home, while the girls were growing up. She had many students from Mexico, Japan and Central America who referred to her as “Mom.”

Her last beautiful, unselfish act of kindness was to donate her body to research for the University of Minnesota. Her eyes will keep on living in someone else who will be able to enjoy better vision because of her. Nancy will be sadly missed every day but take comfort in the thought that we will have a special angel to watch over us.

Nancy’s family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to the Allina paramedic team and to the Unity Hospital ICU staff for their care and support.

Memorials in her name can be directed to the American Heart Association. Please follow the link to go directly to her Memorial web page: http://honor.americanheart.org/site/TR?pxfid=233136&fr_id=1030&pg=fund&et=MwvKpVuYKHM33wUiXiBIkg&s_tafId=1061

A memorial service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be planned for a later date.
