Edith was born in West Haverstraw, New York, to Thomas and Rose (Ponessa) Rotella of Stony Point, New York. She was married to Rubin Stanphill for 49 years. She was a graduate of Haverstraw High School and the Wanamaker Academy of Beauty Culture in New York City, New York. Edith worked as a beautician in the West Haverstraw area.

She lived her entire life in New York, until moving to the Sauer Memorial Home in Winona four years ago. She was an accomplished Italian cook, especially known for her famous lasagna and meatballs. Mom was a devoted wife and mother, who took good care of us while Dad served in the U.S. Army. Her compassion and sincerity will be missed by all who knew her.

Edith is survived by her three children, Thomas (Alice) Bogert, Stony Point, New York, Karen (Bob) Howes, Winona, Minn., and Lynn (Frank Vinci) Stanphill, Manahawkin, New Jersey; grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth) Bogert, Croton on the Hudson, New York, Kathy (Jason) Robinson, Winona, Minn., Nicole Howes, Winona, Minn., and Robbie Howes, Winona, Minn., great-grandchildren, Emma and Brian Bogert and Joe, Ben and Kayla Robinson; as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rubin; parents; grandson, Thomas Bogert Jr., and sister, Mary Brown.
