Justin J. Breza, 21, of Winona, died Sunday, December 9, 2012, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Justin James was born October 17, 1991, in Winona, to James and Sonja (Hanson) Breza. He graduated from Winona Senior High in 2010 and from Southeast Technical College, Winona, Minn. For the past two years he has been employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He started at Lock & Dam 8, Genoa, Wis., and recently transferred to Lock and Dam 6, Trempealeau, Wis. He was looking forward to his full time status after graduation.
Justin was known for his friendly smile and outgoing personalilty. He loved to be outdoors, enjoyed fishing, and playing softball with his older brother Matthew. Justin had a twinkle in his eye and a heart of gold. His favorite football team was the Minnesota Vikings and he enjoyed attending a game periodically with family and friends. Justin’s close bond with his older brother Matthew and Grandma Doris will forever be treasured. His love for life and the ability to make others smile when in his presence were unique characteristics of his very own and will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, James and Sonja, Winona; a brother, Matthew (Tanya) Breza, Winona; his dog, Mya; maternal grandmother, Doris Hanson, Winona; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Breza, Rochester, Minn. He is also survived by aunts and uncles: Trygve (Roxanne) Hanson, Heidi (Thomas) Hansen, Steve (Kathy) Breza, (Ruth) Breza; godparents, Jeffrey (Barbara) Breza, Michele Breza; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Howard Hanson; paternal grandfather, Gene Breza; and an uncle, Dennis Breza.
Services to remember Justin will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Central Lutheran Church, Winona, with Rev. Michelle Rem officiating. There will be a private family interment at Frank Hill Cemetery, Warren Township, Winona County.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2012, at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, and beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Casket bearers will be Matthew Breza, Michael Breza, John Szczepanski, Shawn Will, Sam Morken, and Christian Ryan.
Memorials will be put in place at Winona Area Softball fields, Home and Community Options, and Central Lutheran Youth Group.
Justin’s final gift, to people he didn’t even know, was his gift of being a cornea and tissue donor.
