James H. Boynton, age 78, of Winona, died Saturday, January 4, 2014, at his home with his family.

James Henry was born November 2, 1935, in Winona County to David and Nilda (Kleist) Boynton. On November 12, 1955, James and Ann Marie Brevig were married at Rushford Lutheran Church, Rushford, Minn.

James began his young life as a farmer before moving to Winona due to health reasons. He was employed by Winona Industries for a year and at Badger Construction for 33 years up until his retirement.

James was a member of Central Lutheran Church, the Eagles Club, Westfield Golf Course and a past member of the Winona Area Bowling Association for many years. James had a great love for the Minnesota Twins and the Green Bay Packers. He loved to fish for that perfect walleye, golf and camp with family and friends, and deer hunt with his sons.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ann; sons: Donald (Sherry), Daniel, Duane (Lana); and daughters: Sharon (Daniel) Neitzke and Susan (Chris) Tarras; a brother, Glen (Darlene); brother-in-law, Doug Reps; grandchildren: Sara and Emily (fianc Joe Solheid) Boynton, Shelby and Brianna Neitzke, Lindsay (Aaron) Serwa, Hailey and Corey Tarras, Brandon and Jacob Boynton; great grandchildren: Sydney Stoner, Colin and Connor Serwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law; sisters: Donna Peterson, Darlene Reps, and Lavina Burns.

Services to remember James will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Central Lutheran Church, Winona, with Rev. Michelle Rem officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona, Minn.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to charities of choice.
