George Griffin, age 84, of Lewiston, died Friday, December 25, at his home, surrounded by his family.

George was born to Odin and Ruth (Hundorf) Griffin on June 25, 1931, in Rushford, Minn. He farmed most of his life. He bought his own farm outside of Lewiston in 1962 and farmed it until his retirement in 1995. George was determined not to sit on the porch during his retirement. Instead he took to furniture making and making his own bio diesel fuel. He is lovingly remembered as a hard worker with a great sense of humor. He was a wonderful provider who always put others first.

George married Mildred Steinfeldt and had nine children, David (Gail) Griffin, Susan (Patrick) Durnen, Karen (Richard) Philipps, Kathryn Griffin, George Jr. (Joanne) Griffin, Stephanie (Dave) Griffin, John (Kathy) Griffin, Jeff (Denise) Griffin, and Cindy Potter.
They later divorced and George married Diane Beirne and had three children, Robert (Crystal) Griffin, Jerry (Lisa) Griffin, and Jamie (Cheri Petersen) Griffin.

They also divorced then George met and married the love of his life, Mary Schell Golish, and had one child, Amanda (Chance Reps) Griffin. Mary had three children that George loved and treated as his own, Cheryl (Scott Rothering) Golish, Brian Golish, and Donna (Ryan) Konkel. He has 39 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. George is also survived by his sisters, Rachel Heublien, Hazel Krohse, Judy (Don) Schultz; and special person, daughter-in-law, Denise Griffin.

George was preceded in death by his infant son, Tommy; granddaughter, Jessica; and sister, Gladys Kohner.

The visitation for George will take place on Wednesday, December 30, from 12-4 p.m. at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview. The funeral service will be on Thursday, December 31, at 12 p.m., with visitation one hour prior, also at Hoff in Goodview. Interment will be at Lewiston Public Cemetery.
