Phyllis M. Fletcher, 90, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 27, 2015. She died with her son and daughter-in-law at her bedside at Shorehaven in Oconomowoc, Wis. She was a life-long member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Winona, Minn., where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. The Lord blessed her with many good years of active life and she continued to participate in activities at Shorehaven where she resided since 2011. She loved to help others play bingo in the great room.
She was born in 1925. She married Edwin Fletcher on January 21, 1945. She served as a telephone operator for the FBI during WWII. She was employed by Sunbeam Bakery, Spurgeon’s Department Store, Ward’s Catalog Store and Olin Mills’ photography. Phyllis loved the country and told others she was a “country gal” in spirit. She loved going on vacation up north and rides in the country. She loved her grandchildren, enjoyed time with them and traveled with them on family vacations. She supported her church and its work, even after the move to Wisconsin. She had one sister, Joyce Ehlers (deceased).
Phyllis had four children, Dennis (Joan) Fletcher, Rene (Leslie) Foran, Gregory Fletcher (deceased), and Rochelle (deceased, Daryl) Pagel. She had 11 grandchildren, Kirstie (John) Pahmeier, Ross (Jessica) Fletcher, Brenda (Mike) Loeffel, Lisa (Ed) Moran, Kelly (Dean) Runquist, George Foran, Megan Foran, Francis (Lisa) Fletcher, Derrick (Brandi) Pagel, David (Rebecca) Pagel, Dustin Pagel; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at 11 a.m., with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. Rev. Paul F. Welke will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.
