Douglas Frank Rosendahl, 72, of Fountain City, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017, at home, with loved ones near. Doug fought a courageous battle with Multiple System Atrophy for over five years. He maintained his positive attitude, faith and sense of humor with a strength that will never be forgotten.

Doug was born on June 12, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minn. His parents were Carl and Marie Rosendahl. He graduated from Bloomington High School. While earning his Bachelor's degree in biology from Winona State, Doug enjoyed studying abroad in Oslo, Norway. He was united in marriage with Kathleen Lorraine (Nelson) on August 19, 1978. He later earned his Master's degree from Mankato State University. Doug touched many lives while teaching life science and Earth science for 37 years at Winona Senior High School and Winona Middle School. He finished his teaching career with six years at Winona State University as a professor in anatomy and physiology.

Along with teaching, Doug served as an EMT, coach, commissioned lay pastor and Winona City Council member. Doug found great enjoyment in nature hikes, telling bad jokes, reading, and treasured time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters, Jennifer (Jon), of Cedar Rapids, and Emily (David), of Galesville; son, David, of Fountain City; and four grandchildren, Benjamin, Brielle, Brady and Brycen, whom he loved whole-heartedly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim and Val; and sister, Carlotta.

Service will be held Monday, November 27, 2017, at 12 p.m. with visitation starting at 11 a.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church in Winona, Minn. Officiants will be Rev. Rachel Riggle and Rev. Jim Scaife. Inurnment will be held at a future date in Canby, Minn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace Presbyterian Church.
