Mary Francis Burns, 73, of Winona, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Winona Health.
She was born in Winona on May 8, 1944, to John and Gertrude (Malotke) Czaplewski. On October 26, 1963, she married George Burns. Together they moved to Wyattville where they farmed for 26 years. In 1987 they sold the farm and returned to Winona. Mary enjoyed golf, playing cards, sewing, and crocheting. She and George also loved to travel, taking trips to Florida, California, Hawaii, and Las Vegas.
Mary will be missed by her husband of 54 years, George; daughter, Wendy (Thomas) Erdmann; grandchildren, Matthew and April; and step-grandson, Derik Bischel; brother, LeRoy (Katie) Czaplewski; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Timothy (Nell) Burns, Rita (Frank) Norton, Lawrence Putzier, John Bauer, Joe (Mary) Speltz, Bill (Mary) Burns, Janet Burns, Denny (Donna) Burns, Jim (Sue) Burns, and Gloria Burns; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ron Czaplewski; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Darlene, Kathleen, Anthony, Patrick, Bob, Roy and Thecla.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Reverend James Berning officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Hoff Celebration of Life Center, Goodview, with the recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to Mass on Thursday. Burial will be in the St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Lewiston.
