Delbert J.(Jim) Bedtka, 88, of Winona, died on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Lake Winona Manor. He was born on February 6, 1929, in Quincy Township, Olmsted County, Minn., to Richard and Winnie (Ihrke) Bedtka. Delbert and Arlene Timm were married on September 3, 1951, and they farmed near Beaver, Minn. Following the Beaver flood, Delbert and Arlene moved to Winona in 1956. He worked for the Cenex Fertilizer Plant before going to work for Peerless Chain until his retirement.
In his retirement, Delbert found his favorite part-time job, making deliveries for O’Reilly Auto Parts. He never got over his love of farming and spent many days helping his son-in-law, Glen, driving tractor on the farm in Stockton Valley. His granddaughters were blessed by the many hours he spent with them as they were growing up.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; three daughters, Sandra (Paul) Simonsgaard of Glendale, Ariz., Linda Bedtka and Kendra (Glen) Albrecht, both of Winona; five granddaughters, Amber (Matt) Lynch, Casey (Brady) Haas, Devon Jackels, Katie (Jeremy) Sell, and Grace Albrecht; two great-grandchildren, River Lynch and Harrison Haas; and a sister, Helen Kahn of Wabasha.
