James Oevering, 70, formerly of Winona, Minn., died at his home in Arizona on April 19, 2018.
Jim was born on October 3, 1947, to Wallace and Hellen Oevering in Winona, Minn. He graduated from Winona Senior High in 1966. He joined the Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He worked for the Bridgestone Tire Co. for 40 years. On February 15, 1969, he was united in marriage to Patricia Flatla at the Congregational Church in Winona, Minn. He retired in 2013 and moved to Arizona City, Ariz.
Jim is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Tony (Ann) Oevering of Erie, Colo.; daughter, Kim Oevering of Littleton, Colo.; three grandsons, Taylor, Adam, and Mason; two sisters, Hellen (Mike) Heimert of Rockford, Ill., and Nancy (Les) Manske of La Crosse, Wis.; father-in-law, Harold Flatla of Northfield, Minn.; seven nephews; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David; sister, Kathleen; half-brother, Jerry Knutson; and mother-in-law, Harriet Flatla.
His memorial service will be held in Arvada, Colo., on May 26 at the Arvada United Methodist Church.
