Phyllis Hoppe, 68, died on May 31, 2018. She was born on September 15, 1949, in Winona, Minn., to LaVerne and Vera Hoppe (Rupprecht). Phyllis was a 1967 graduate of Winona Senior High School and a 1971 Winona State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in social studies and library studies. Phyllis received her teaching certificate for both Minnesota and Wisconsin. In 1971 Phyllis began her librarian and teaching career with Highland High School in Wisconsin. In 2004 Phyllis retired from the government of United States of America Social Security Administration after 26 years receiving Civil Servant of the Year in 2003 among many other accolades and achievements throughout her career.
Phyllis is survived by her brother, Robert “Bob” Hoppe, and his wife Janice Hoppe; nieces, Cynthia “Cindy” (Tom) Kendhammer of Onalaska, Wis., Michelle “Shelly” (Tom) Schossow-Garmon of St. Charles, Minn.; nephews, Kerry (Mandy) Johnsgaard of Goodview, Minn., and Scott (Katie) Schossow of St. Charles, Minn.; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Laverne (2004) and Vera (2016); sisters, Doris Johnsgaard (1978) and Carol Schossow (2003); and brother-in-law, Larry Schossow (2016).
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview.
