Eloise A. Adank passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Lake Winona Manor, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on September 8, 1929, to Alfred and Almeda (Eid) Blegen in Martell, Wis. She was forced to leave school at the age of 15, but proudly acquired her GED at age 55. She married Dallas Adank on January 4, 1950, and they were married for 44 years. She was a stay-at-home mom and her life revolved around raising her children. She was an excellent cook and was also a great baker of breads and pies. The summers were principally the family camping at Money Creek. Mom and dad had many friends who they liked to entertain. Their passion was dancing, particularly polka and square dancing.
After the children were more independent, she returned to the workforce at Bolands and then Lake Center. In 1978 though, she landed her longtime job at EMD, where she worked until the illness of dad that required her to retire and provide him care until his death in 1994. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and in the making of many good memories. She was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dallas; grandson, Jeffrey; and she was the last of a family of 11 children. Survivors include her children, Susan (John) Hokenstad, David (Shirley) Adank, Jean (Jon) Rusterholtz, Kevin Adank and Christi Braun and Dean (Cindy) Adank; grandchildren, Stacey, Kimberley, Kristen, Melissa, Michelle, Molly, Kayla, Jessica, Alyssa, Carrie, Christopher, Matthew and Phillip; and many great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Eloise’s children and son-in-law, Jon. Honorary pallbearers will be Eloise’s grandchildren, daughters-in-law and great-grandchildren.
A special thank-you to Dr. Parker, and to Teresa and the wonderful caring staff at Winona Manor for their gentle care of our mom, especially in the final stages of her life.
