George was born on July 17, 1946, in Winona, Minn., to Richard and Dorothy Janikowski.
After graduating from Winona Senior High (1964) and Winona Area VoTech, George joined the United States Air Force in June 1966. He was honorably discharged in October 1970.
He was stationed in Texas, Mississippi, Maryland, Washington, D.C., (Pentagon), Pakistan, Vietnam, California, and enjoyed traveling while in the Air Force.
George always enjoyed listening to music from the ‘60s. His favorite songs were “The Motown Song” (Soul in the City), “Home Grown Tomatoes,” “Cherry Bomb,” and “Still Cruisin,’” He enjoyed the outdoors, the river, boating, and winter in Minnesota (HA! HA!).

He is survived by daughter, Annette (Bob) Goodman of Rochester; sons, George (Deb) Janikowski Jr. of Wabasha, Minn., Timothy (Tiffany) Janikowski of Plainview, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and a very wonderful friend, Gladys Hawkinson of Rochester, Minn., and her daughter, Rebecca (Scott) Bacon of Rochester, Minn., and their two children.
George was preceded in death by his parents.

According to his wishes, private family services were held. George was laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Winona with military honors.
