Irene Sophia Ebertowski, age 90, of Winona, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at Sauer Health Care.
Irene was born on August 23, 1928, in Winona, Minn., to John and Florence (Losinski) Verdick. She was united in marriage to William R. Ebertowski on July 13, 1957, by the Justice of the Peace in Decorah, Iowa.
Irene began working at a young age cleaning houses for affluent families in Winona. She then enjoyed working at the Winona Printing Company until choosing to remain home to raise her two children. Following the death of her husband, Irene worked tirelessly to support her family by continuing to clean homes, preparing meals for local weddings with Jean Paszkiewicz, and serving as a cleaning lady at the Winona Clinic. Irene continued her heartfelt cleaning at the Winona Clinic until retiring after 12 years. She took great pride in her work.
Irene will be remembered for her phenomenal cooking and baking skills, generous spirit, incredible strength, lively personality, and spunky sense of humor that left people laughing everywhere she went. Throughout her 90 years, Irene enjoyed polka dancing, trips to the casino, traveling the country, spending time outside, fishing with her trusty cane pole, playing cards, and visiting with beloved family and friends. Irene never shied away from a day of hard work and was there with a helping hand and a joke or two whenever someone needed her. When it was time to celebrate, a brandy old fashioned sweet was her drink of choice. Without a doubt, Irene touched countless lives with her vivacious spirit and unique character, and she will remain in our hearts forever.
Irene is lovingly survived by her children, Bonny (Andrew) Glodowski, Roberts, Wis., and Bruce (Suzanne) Ebertowski, Minnesota City, Minn.; grandchildren, Stephanie (Eric) Moe, Hudson, Wis., Derek (Nicole) Glodowski, Altoona, Wis., Courtney (William) Wheeler, Tallahassee, Fla., Evan Glodowski, Minneapolis, Minn., Aaron (Becky) Ebertowski, Zumbrota, Minn., and Brian Ebertowski, Las Vegas, Nev.; great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Noah Ebertowski, Caysen and Hadilee Glodowski, and Brecken, Cullen, and Afton Moe.
