Allen M. “Bud” Jertson went home to be with his Heavenly Father on March 28, 2020, at 2:30 a.m. His wife and son were at his bedside when he drew his last breath. He was in the intensive care unit, St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minn. On November 25, 2019, he became 82 years old.
He was a beloved mentor to many, especially his grandchildren, wife and friends. His dedication to Bible studies and studying the Bible made him a “go to” for spiritual wisdom. At least 40 years of two to three Bible studies a week kept him busy. He and his son were in the jail ministry for at least 20 years.
Al was formerly employed at Merchants Bank, Winona, as a messenger, bookkeeper and teller; then Norwest Bank, Rochester, Minn., as an installment loan officer. He transferred to Norwest Bank, Winona, as manager of installment loan department and retired in 2001, from the quality control department at Herff Jones Photography, Lewiston, Minn.
His son and grandchildren were the joy of his life. Hunting and fishing were his special hobbies (as well as eating them).
He is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Mark (Laura) Jertson; grandchildren, Dustin Jerston and Kaecey (Daniel) Parker; a brother, John (Jackie) Jertson of Ocala, Fla.; and two step-grandchildren, Stefani and Jesse Flewelling.
His parents and in-laws have passed on. Twin baby girls died at birth, Christine and Debra.
The family will be planning a memorial service after the restrictions on public gatherings have been lifted.
