Ronald F. Ready, 78, of Winona, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, December 29, 2015.
Ron was born on January 19, 1937, in La Crosse, Wis., to Joe and Mary (Buehler) Ready. He graduated from La Crosse High School in 1955.
Ron owned and operated Ron’s Paint Center from 1969 to 1997. He also was a custodian at Town and Country State Bank, which later became Winona National Bank, from 1984 until retiring. On September 28, 2002, Ron married Jean K. Lee.
Ron was a member of Faith Lutheran Church; Eagles Aerie # 1243, Winona: B.P.O. of the Elks Lodge #327; and past member and president of the Winona Jaycees. Ron was an avid hunter. He enjoyed playing softball and later became a softball umpire. Ron’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pearl; and brothers, Lawrence and Robert. He is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Gregory (Marie) of Hampton, Va., Michael (Faith) of Winona, Minn., David of Winona, Minn., Paul (Jennifer) of Winona, Minn.; daughters, Loretta Ready of Rochester, Minn., Veronica Bell of Winona, Minn., Roxanne (Paul) Ready of Winona, Minn.; step-sons, Jay (Terri) Lee of Sterling, Colo., Barry (Richard) Lee of Minneapolis, Minn., Blaine Lee of Fargo, N.D.; step-daughters, Danelle Williams of Des Moines, Iowa, Poncho (Robbie) Lee of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph (Arlene) Jr., Shorty (Donna), LeRoy, all of La Crescent, Minn.; sister, Mary Ann (Martin) Luedtke of Waukesha, Wis.; sister-in-law, Carol Ready of La Crescent, Minn.; and many more relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at 2 p.m. with visitation starting at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Rev. Mark Dumke will be officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Winona Park and Rec Association.
