Marvin Hoff of Winona ended his journey on earth on March 27, 2017. His family gathered to be with him in his final days.
Marvin was born in Hardies Creek, Wis., on September 20, 1931, to Herman and Laura (Stensven) Hoff, the fourth of six children. He married Arlene Groth on August 28, 1954. They made their home in Winona where they raised their seven children. He was a member of St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He met many life-long friends through his carpentry work with his son, Gary. He was very proud of his family and looked forward to the time they spent together. His love of country music continued to the very end of his earthly life and he was soothed by Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn songs in his final hours.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Myrtle Franz, Henry, Herb, and Lyle Hoff, and Vi Gilbertson. He is survived by his dearly loved wife, Arlene; children, Gary (Laurie), Karen, Bruce (Emilie Turner), Nancy, Janet Doman (Kirk), Karla Kellen (Jeff) and Mike; grandchildren, Jessie (Zak Fishman), Dan, Katie, Nick (Rheana), Jake, Kevin, Kelly, and Emily Hoff, Lindsay and Kirstin Doman, Zack, Matthew and Cole Kellen; six great-grandchildren; dear friend and sister-in-law, Donnis Noer; sisters-in-law, Betty Groth and Marilyn Hoff; brother-in-law, Don Streuber; and several nieces and nephews.
