Betty Mary (Gesell) Rogge, 93, of Winona, died on Monday, September 23, 2019, at St. Michael’s Assisted Living in Fountain City, Wis. She was born on June 3, 1926, to Walter and Hedwig (Schamaun) Gesell in Winona. She married Harold John Rogge, Ph.D., on May 14, 1949. He died on July 23, 1991.
Betty graduated from Winona Senior High School in June 1944. She graduated from Winona State University in June 1963 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree and earned a Master’s Degree in business education from Winona State in June 1967.
She worked at Minnesota State College Southeast – Winona campus – as the second year accounting instructor from 1968-1978. She previously worked as the office clerk at Ohio University in the business department from 1950-1951.
Betty volunteered at Winona Friendship Center and for AARP from 1992-2002, helping people file their taxes, which she enjoyed.
She is survived by her son, John (Carolyn) Rogge, of Winona; daughter, Jane (Bruce) Fredericksen, of Mahtomedi, Minn.; grandsons, Michael Rogge, Jason Rogge, Noel Fredericksen and Derek Fredericksen; brother, William Gesell of Eau Claire, Wis.; and three nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sister-in-law, Faye Gesell.
